System Architect

Position Summary :

The System Architect will support the data processing, system maintenance, application modernization, and data migration initiatives. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing critical AES information systems, including LIMS, DIVAS, ICOMS, and other legacy and future applications. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in application development, database administration, cloud migration, systems integration, and technology modernization while ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • support the maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of all AES information systems, including LIMS, DIVAS, ICOMS, and other legacy and future applications
  • Perform application updates and enhancements driven by operating system upgrades, security requirements, infrastructure changes, business needs, and legislative mandates
  • Maintain and enhance database structures, tables, queries, stored procedures, functions, packages, and other database objects supporting AES applications
  • Assist in the cloud migration strategy, including transitioning applications and databases from Oracle platforms to modern cloud-based environments
  • Perform data migration, data validation, and system conversion activities as part of technology transformation initiatives
  • Design, develop, enhance, and support applications using .NET Framework, ASP.NET, C# .NET, AngularJS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Oracle, and other supporting middleware technologies
  • Develop, maintain, and support interfaces, data exchanges, APIs, and integrations between AES applications, enterprise systems, external services, and third-party applications to ensure reliable data flow and system interoperability
  • Install, configure, and maintain .NET development components, application frameworks, development tools, and supporting utilities
  • Maintain Development, Test, and Production environments, including application servers, databases, and deployment configurations
  • Coordinate and perform code migrations and application deployments between Development, Test, and Production environments following established release management procedures
  • Provide technical consultation and collaborate with AES staff, other divisions, and third-party vendors to support system integration, modernization, and enterprise data initiatives
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance application forms, reports, scripts, stored procedures, packages, and software modules across all supported AES applications
  • Support the retirement and decommissioning of obsolete or legacy applications and associated infrastructure
  • Ensure all development activities comply with Administrative Policies and Procedures (AP&P), development standards, security guidelines, and coding best practices

 

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of work experience with AES

  • Minimum of five (6) years of experience developing applications using .NET and Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing applications using Microsoft ASP.NET and .NET Framework 4.0 or higher.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience developing applications using Oracle Web Forms and Oracle Reports.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting AES LIMS application and database components.
  • Experience supporting AES DIVAS application components and business processes.
  • Experience supporting AES ICOMS application components and business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working effectively within a collaborative, multi-developer environment.
  • Strong experience utilizing object-oriented design and development methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff, business users, project stakeholders, and executive management.
  • Ability to follow application development standards, coding guidelines, and software development best practices.
  • Documentation & Development Standards
  • Produce weekly documentation detailing completed work, including a narrative describing all system modifications and enhancements implemented.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all application changes, database updates, scripts, packages, stored procedures, and deployment activities.
  • Document all code modifications using standardized comments that include:
  • Developer name Date of modification
  • Description of the changes made Business or technical reason for the change Include detailed change log documentation describing all database scripts, procedures, packages, data modifications, and system actions associated with each release.
  •  Testing & Quality Assurance Coordinate testing activities with the Division Information Officer or designated personnel and end users to validate functionality and verify requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans prior to user acceptance testing (UAT), including detailed test scenarios and validation steps for all application enhancements, forms, reports, and system functionality.

Support defect resolution, regression testing, production validation, and deployment activities to ensure successful implementation of application enhancements.
