Job Title: IT Business Analyst
Type: Contract
Location: Houston, TX (4 days onsite in Downtown Houston)
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced IT Business Analyst to serve as the bridge between business objectives and technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development lifecycle (SDLC), data-driven analysis, and system integrations, with hands-on experience translating complex business needs into technical requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business and technical requirements.
- Translate requirements into functional specifications, process flows, and user stories.
- Partner with developers, QA, and project managers throughout the SDLC (Agile/Waterfall) to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Support the full project lifecycle — from requirements and design through testing (UAT, integration, performance) and deployment.
- Create and maintain documentation — BRDs, FRDs, workflow diagrams, and data dictionaries.
- Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and feasibility studies.
- Collaborate with QA to design test cases and validate that solutions meet requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and requirement review sessions.
- Ensure compliance with IT standards, governance, and security policies.
- Act as a liaison between business units, IT teams, and external vendors.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years as an IT Business Analyst in software development or IT transformation projects.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience writing detailed business, functional, and technical requirements, and user stories.
- Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation.
- Experience with APIs, integrations, and system interfaces.
- Familiarity with enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, custom-built, or web-based platforms).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP.
- Exposure to BI/Data Visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Knowledge of Agile project management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence).
- Domain experience in energy, utilities, oil & gas, or financial services.
