Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead overall project delivery for the large-scale VMware, physical server, VDI, and database migration program to AWS.

• Own project planning, execution, governance, risk management, and successful delivery of migration milestones.

• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, migration schedules, wave calendars, resource plans, and dependency trackers.

• Coordinate activities across client teams, cloud architects, database administrators, infrastructure teams, AWS stakeholders, and offshore migration teams.

• Drive migration wave planning, readiness reviews, cutover schedules, and go-live execution.

• Facilitate project governance meetings, steering committee reviews, status reporting, and executive stakeholder communications.

• Manage project scope, change requests, assumptions, risks, issues, and mitigation plans throughout the engagement lifecycle.

• Track project milestones, deliverables, financials, resource utilization, and overall program health.

• Ensure alignment between application, infrastructure, network, security, database, and operations workstreams.

• Drive resolution of project blockers and act as the primary escalation point for delivery-related issues.

• Coordinate cutover execution activities and ensure all stakeholders are aligned on migration readiness and business impacts.

• Ensure compliance with project governance standards, quality requirements, security controls, and regulatory obligations.

• Monitor overall migration progress and ensure workloads are delivered according to agreed timelines and quality standards.

 

Secondary Responsibilities

• Support onboarding and coordination of project resources across onshore and offshore teams.

• Facilitate migration readiness assessments, dependency validation, and environment readiness reviews.

• Coordinate testing activities, defect tracking, business validation, and hypercare support.

• Maintain RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs and drive timely follow-up actions.

• Support development and enforcement of migration runbooks, SOPs, governance processes, and best practices.

• Track project metrics, KPIs, milestone completion, and executive reporting dashboards.

• Coordinate communication between project stakeholders, application owners, operations teams, and leadership groups.

• Support transition of migrated environments to operations and managed services teams.

• Facilitate lessons learned sessions, knowledge transfer activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience managing large-scale cloud migration, infrastructure transformation, or data center migration programs.

• Proven experience leading complex multi-workstream technology projects involving infrastructure, applications, databases, networking, and security.

• Strong understanding of AWS cloud migration methodologies and migration factory delivery models.

• Experience managing migration waves, cutovers, hypercare activities, and operational transitions.

• Strong project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and resource management skills.

• Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project delivery methodologies.

• Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.

• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

• Experience managing risks, dependencies, change management processes, and governance reviews.

• Ability to coordinate geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones.

• PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, or equivalent project management certification preferred.

• Experience working within government, regulated, or highly governed environments is a plus.
