A Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Support Engineer acts as the point of contact for technical issues related to Google Cloud Platform services. Responsible for monitoring infrastructure, handling troubleshooting, resolving user queries/incidents and escalating complex problems to higher-level support/fulfilment teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Ticket Management: Receive, categorize, and prioritize customer incidents and service requests

• Infrastructure Monitoring: Monitor GCP services (Compute Engine, VPCs, Networking, Storage, POD, GKE, etc.) to ensure high availability and performance

• Infrastructure Ops: Deploy, configure, monitor, and optimize GCP resources, ensuring performance and security compliance.

• Troubleshooting: Resolve technical issues such as password resets, access management (IAM), firewall and virtual machine connectivity.

• GCP IAM: Add/remove GCP Cloud Identify group members, Update permissions in roles, create custom roles, assign roles to google groups, manage service account, folder, project-level IAM policy (bindings)

• Service Requests: Assist with routine tasks, including launching instances, managing storage buckets, and configuring network components like VPCs and subnets, quota increases, Create GCP Folders and Projects, Global configuration task (audit log forwarding, GCP monitoring dashboard configuration)

• Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, and update internal knowledge bases.

• Escalation: Identify complex issues and promptly escalate them to next level engineers, providing initial analysis and necessary logs.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 1–3 years of relevant experience in IT & Public Cloud support roles

• GCP Knowledge: Knowledge of GCP services (Compute Engine, Networking, Storage, IAM, Security & IaC)

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with Linux/Unix commands, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN), and Kubernetes (GKE)

• Tools: Familiarity with the GCP Console, Cloud SDK/CLI, and ticketing systems (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira)

• Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have / Preferred

• Certifications: Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE) is highly preferred.

• Automation: Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash) for automation of repetitive tasks.

• Frameworks: Knowledge of ITIL processes
