Role- Software Engineer – Infrastructure Automation

Location- Santa Clara, CA (ONSITE)

We need someone with deep, hands-on experience deploying, managing, upgrading, and scaling Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) in a large, distributed enterprise environment. The ideal candidate should have owned the platform engineering and administration of AAP end-to-end, rather than simply using it as an automation tool.

  • Deployed AAP from scratch,
  • Upgraded AAP versions,
  • Multi-node / HA configuration,
  • Mesh topology,
  • Private Automation Hub setup,
  • AAP platform lifecycle ownership

One of the coding languages Python or Go to design, develop, and maintain enterprise infrastructure automation solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience automating large-scale infrastructure across storage, compute, network, cloud, and hybrid environments while developing scalable, reusable automation frameworks.

The ideal candidate has owned Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) as a platform — deploying, upgrading, scaling, and administering it end-to-end — not simply using it as an automation delivery tool."

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise infrastructure automation solutions using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), including Automation Controller, Automation Hub, Execution Environments, Workflow Templates, and Job Templates.
  • Develop reusable Ansible Playbooks, Roles, Collections, and Python automation to automate provisioning, configuration management, patching, compliance, monitoring, and operational workflows.
  • Build REST API integrations and automation frameworks to integrate with enterprise platforms, cloud services, ITSM tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, compute, networking, cloud, and platform engineering teams to automate infrastructure lifecycle management across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation and infrastructure issues, perform code reviews, testing, validation, and deployments, and maintain technical documentation and automation best practices.
  • Utilize Git, YAML, Jinja2, Shell scripting, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Linux administration, and DevOps practices to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable automation solutions.
  • Support automation for AWS, Azure, or GCP environments, monitoring and observability platforms, and enterprise infrastructure while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) and/or Ansible automation in enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Go, Shell scripting, Linux, REST APIs, Git, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and DevOps/CI-CD practices is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and installing Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) from scratch in enterprise environments, including multi-node and high-availability configurations.
  • Experience upgrading AAP across major versions, managing platform lifecycle, patching, and maintaining Automation Controller and Automation Hub.
  • Designed and configured AAP mesh topology, including control nodes, execution nodes, and hop nodes in distributed enterprise environments.
  • Administered Automation Hub including private automation hub setup, Collection publishing, approval workflows, and namespace management.
  • Built and maintained custom Execution Environments (EEs) using ansible-builder, managing Python dependencies, Collections, and container registries.
  • Configured enterprise-grade AAP integrations including LDAP/AD authentication, RBAC, credential management, and external secrets management.
  • Experience with AAP backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Managed AAP at scale — 100+ job templates, multiple inventories, dynamic inventory sources, and concurrent workflow automation.
