Scope of Project

The County of Sacramento is seeking a Network Engineer to support infrastructure operations, network maintenance, and implementation of new network projects. The role is responsible for ensuring network reliability, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining documentation while working both independently and collaboratively with IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install, and maintain routers, switches, voice gateways, access points, and microwave radio equipment
• Support daily network operations including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response
• Assist with implementation of new network projects and upgrades
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and diagrams
• Ensure network availability and performance
• Work independently and collaboratively within IT teams

Required Skills

• Experience with Cisco routers and switches
• Knowledge of OSI model and networking fundamentals
• Experience with wireless access points and microwave radios
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Additional Information

• CCNA certification is preferred
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco and network infrastructure required
• Must be flexible and adaptable to new technologies
