3x per week on coppell, TX - 6-12 month contract

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Developer in Test (SDET) with 12+ years of hands-on experience in Java-based application development and test automation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated testing solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical enterprise applications.

This role requires deep expertise in test automation frameworks, Java development, CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices. The candidate will work closely with developers, architects, product owners, and DevOps teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation & Quality Engineering

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and test suites for UI, API, integration, performance, and end-to-end testing.
  • Define and implement test strategies that support Agile and DevOps delivery models.
  • Develop reusable automation components and libraries to improve test efficiency and maintainability.
  • Ensure comprehensive functional, regression, integration, and system test coverage.
  • Drive shift-left testing practices and quality engineering initiatives.

Software Development

  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Java and industry-standard testing frameworks.
  • Review application designs and code to ensure testability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve application quality and reduce production defects.
  • Participate in code reviews and enforce automation coding standards and best practices.

CI/CD & DevOps Integration

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or CloudBees.
  • Enable continuous testing across development, QA, and production environments.
  • Support containerized testing environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Analyze pipeline failures and improve test execution reliability.

Quality & Risk Management

  • Perform root-cause analysis of defects and production incidents.
  • Develop quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ensure compliance with security, resiliency, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote risk mitigation and proactive quality assurance practices.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor junior QA engineers and SDETs.
  • Partner with product, architecture, and development teams to define acceptance criteria and quality standards.
  • Drive adoption of modern testing tools, frameworks, and engineering practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in software development and test automation.
  • Strong Java programming expertise with hands-on experience in object-oriented design principles.
