Job title: Senior SQL Developer
Location: Addison, TX (Hybrid-3 days onsite in a week)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced 8+ years in SQL Server / T-SQL Developer with deep expertise in query optimization, performance tuning, and refactoring complex database code, along with a strong understanding of how APIs interact with SQL Server stored procedures and databases.
The ideal candidate will work closely with application, API, and DBA teams to ensure that database logic is efficient, scalable, and correctly consumed by upstream services.
This role plays a key part in improving performance, reliability, and maintainability across database-driven applications.
Key Responsibilities
SQL Server Development & Optimization
Analyze, optimize, and tune complex T-SQL queries for performance and scalability
Refactor and rewrite legacy stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers to improve execution efficiency and maintainability
Optimize database access patterns used by API-driven applications
Design and optimize indexing strategies (clustered, non-clustered, filtered as appropriate)
Performance Tuning & API Interaction
Identify performance bottlenecks caused by API call patterns, excessive round-trips, or inefficient parameter usage
Tune stored procedures consumed by RESTful or service-based APIs
Code Quality & Standards
Enforce T-SQL best practices and performance-focused coding standards
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate with API and application developers
Provide guidance on best practices for calling stored procedures from APIs
Clearly communicate database performance findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+yrs expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016–2022)
5+yrs proficiency in T-SQL
3 +yrs experience in query optimization and performance tuning
3 +yrs Hands-on experience rewriting complex stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers
3 + yrs Solid understanding of API-to-database interaction patterns (e.g., REST APIs calling stored procedures)
Strong knowledge of execution plans, indexing strategies, statistics, and SQL Server optimizer behavior
