Job Title: Senior Python Engineer (Mainframe & z/OS)

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Python Engineer who is an expert in the Mainframe (z/OS) ecosystem. You will bridge the gap between legacy mainframe systems and modern Python automation. This is a pure development role focused on building tools, services, and data pipelines that run directly on the mainframe or orchestrate mainframe jobs.
Must-Have Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
To be considered, the candidate must meet ALL of the following:
- Python Expert (10+ Years): Proven track record of building production systems (CLIs, services, or batch processes) using Python 3.x.
- Mainframe Dev (Hands-on): Experience coding and running Python scripts natively on z/OS Unix System Services (USS) . Must be comfortable with TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and mainframe datasets.
- DB2 for z/OS: Strong SQL tuning skills on DB2, including writing stored procedures, designing indexes, and using
EXPLAIN and RUNSTATS. - JCL Mastery: Deep understanding of JCL (PROCs, condition codes, GDGs) and experience connecting JCL to enterprise schedulers (e.g., Control-M, CA-7).
Key Technical Stack
Candidates should be familiar with these tools:
- Mainframe: z/OS 2.x, USS, TSO, SDSF, RACF.
- Database: DB2 12/13 for z/OS (SPUFI, DSNTEP2).
- Python Tools:
ibm_db, pandas, PyArrow, requests. - Automation: Zowe CLI, z/OSMF REST APIs, Jenkins/GitLab CI.
