Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal AWS Platform Architect to lead a strategic data platform modernization initiative focused on distributed caching technologies, cloud-native data services, resiliency engineering, and large-scale business continuity architecture.
The architect will serve as the technical authority for a cloud-native cache platform modernization program, driving architecture decisions, migration strategy, performance engineering, and production readiness efforts.
This role requires extensive experience with distributed systems, Redis technologies, AWS data services, and high-availability architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Data Platform Architecture
- Lead the architecture and modernization of distributed caching platforms.
- Define target-state cloud-native data architecture.
- Conduct current-state assessments and migration planning exercises.
- Develop architecture patterns for high-throughput, low-latency applications.
Redis & MemoryDB Architecture
- Design scalable Amazon MemoryDB environments.
- Define:
- Cluster sizing
- Sharding strategies
- Replication patterns
- Capacity planning approaches
- Evaluate workload characteristics and application integration patterns.
High Availability & Resiliency
- Architect multi-region data platform strategies.
- Define business continuity and disaster recovery architecture.
- Design failover strategies and operational playbooks.
- Establish RPO/RTO objectives and validation methods.
Migration Strategy
- Define migration approaches from self-managed data platforms to managed cloud services.
- Design validation, data consistency, and rollback strategies.
- Review application connectivity and client integration patterns.
- Guide production cutover planning and execution.
Performance Engineering
- Lead performance testing and benchmarking initiatives.
- Validate capacity and scalability requirements.
- Define operational readiness and production certification criteria.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Lead customer workshops and architecture reviews.
- Work closely with platform, application, infrastructure, and operations teams.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the migration lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in data platform architecture, distributed systems, or cloud engineering.
- 5+ years of experience with Redis or similar distributed cache technologies.
- Deep expertise in:

- Clustered and distributed caching architectures
- High-availability design
- Disaster recovery planning
- Experience supporting business-critical, low-latency applications.
