Job Description
• This role is part of Merchandising and Supply Chain, specifically Warehousing Engineering
• There is a good existing team in place, 5-6 people - Developers, DevOps, Analyst, Tech Lead, etc.
• Manager is open to more "junior" developers if they seem like they have good growth potential
• 6-month contract to hire with the possibility to extend. Converting to FTE is not guaranteed, though that is the managers preference when they receive headcount down the road.
• Must be local to the Blue Ash/Cincinnati area (Dayton, NKY areas are also fine) and will be expected to be in the office to work with their team Monday - Friday.
• Pre-screen consists of 5 custom, tech specific video questions
• Interview Process: 1 with hiring manager, potentially a 2nd with tech lead

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Fullstack Engineer with a strong focus on backend development utilizing Java and Spring. The main objective is to develop and enhance a new integration service that connects Kroger's Azure-based services with Manhattan's MAWM SaaS solution. Preference will be given to developers with robust data analysis and data engineering skills, as the data will support warehouse, transportation, yard, and labor management solutions.
Beyond the integration service, there will be chances to assist with the rollout of a warehouse claims processing application across Kroger divisions. While the primary focus will be on backend development using Java and Spring, there may also be occasional contributions to frontend development (Angular) for internal tools and claims applications.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in backend development with Java and Spring Framework. (open to more junior candidates as long as they are competent and show an aptitude for learning)
• Experience with cloud services (preferably Azure) and integration patterns.
• Working knowledge of Angular (v10+ preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with supply chain or logistics systems, especially warehouse management systems.
• Exposure to claims processing workflows in warehouse environments.j
• Familiarity with Kroger’s internal systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring for the AMIS integration layer.
• Ensure successful integration with Manhattan systems (TMS, WMS, LMS).
• Support and enhance existing software, adapting and optimizing for warehouse domain needs.
• Contribute to frontend development in Angular for internal tools as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain developers, infrastructure engineers, and QA.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies.
• Ensure code quality, performance, and scalability across services.
